Job Description

We are seeking to add a  Dental Assistant to our team.  A state-of-the-art facility, the position is designed for a dynamic and skilled individual looking to advance their career in dentistry. This is a full-time, in-office position that requires on-site attendance. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
  • Take, develop and mount dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., toothbrushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
  • Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
  • Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
  • Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery.

Requirements

  • Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • X-ray certification, depending on state requirements.
  • Proven experience as a dental assistant.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community.
  • Attention to detail to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications.
  • Willingness to continue education in dental assisting and office administration roles.
