This is a working manager’s position. The manager will split time between managing the team and completing projects assigned to the team. Generally, this is known as a group lead position but for our company we are going to forego this definition and move to full BIM manager as we are fully expecting the department to quickly grow into a size that justifies this role. Since our company works in both 3D and 2D, assume CAD standards fall in your workload.
- Manage workload for BIM team
- Handle OOP / overflow backfill
- Report out on Man loader statuses and need for staffing
- Vacation planning / rotations
- Review timesheets for team to assist Ops Manager in processing payroll
- Participate in staff reviews
- Participate in Manager meetings when asked.
- Forecasting
- Opens / ARNs
- Track team expenditures
- Manage the field interface (Via Design Coordinator position)
- Manage day to day interactions with our BIM clients
- Accept new work from the customer
- Create project systems (engage Ops Manager)
- Assemble project scopes into trackable documents
- Create working schedules with deliverables and milestones
- Track PAS and provide report outs for project health
- Set up PO tracking
- Set up time tracking
- Set up Invoice cadences and protocols
- Participate in CM services as needed to support the client
- This will be on a by project basis and discussed prior to kick off
- Mitigate / resolve SLA type issues
- Escalate issues above SLA items immediately for discussion
- Close out projects when complete
- Coordinate closeouts with customer and ops manager
- Assist in minor proposal creation for non-T&M scopes
- Perform field walks with the ID DM and or Customers
- Document conditions and request to create SOWs
- Develop, if needed, ROMS
- Create proposal documents from templates
- Coordinate all financial obligations with the DM / Ops Manager to ensure we are aligned and not presenting mixed signals / rates / bandwidth statements to the customer
- Safeguard the internal communications and financial data generated by ID
- Participate in business development meetings and efforts
- Work with DM and Ops Manger to develop new (and refine existing) business unit strategies, goals and operation methodologies.
- Assist in exploring new technology applications for new/existing processes.
- Responsible for coordination of 3D & 2D design models.
- Assisting in maintenance and upkeep of relevant models.
- Updating and amending existing design databases.
- Work to gain new clients, including off site engagements and functions.
- Provide historical reference by defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of design data.
- Own the QAQC process for BIM related work
- This includes constructability where applicable
- Codify processes for the BIM department (engage Ops Manager)
- develop processes for existing practices – apply BKMs

- Work with our internal teams to develop standards
- Naming conventions
- Filing structure conventions
- Data transfer protocols
- Access rules
- Coordinate resource sharing with other internal teams / departments
Things you will not be directly responsible for (but may need to participate in)
- Contract negotiations
- Heavy proposal creations
- Financial management (AR/AP)
- Inter department disputes or resource sharing conflicts.
- DM / Ops Manager will drive these to resolution, we expect you to escalate immediately.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of relevant proven BIM Coordination experience.
